Ingredients:

Bread
  • 1 large Italian bread loaf or French bread loaf
  • 6 tablespoons butter, melted
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, finely chopped
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder
  • ¼ teaspoon fresh cracked black pepper
Cheesesteak Filling
  • 1½ pounds shaved ribeye steak or shaved beef
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 large green bell pepper, thinly sliced
  • 1 large yellow onion, thinly sliced
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
Cheese
  • 12 slices provolone cheese
  • 1 cup freshly shredded provolone cheese

Prep:

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F.
  2. Slice bread lengthwise.
  3. Hollow out some of the soft interior bread to create space for filling.
  4. Mix melted butter, garlic, fresh parsley, garlic powder, onion powder, and pepper.
  5. Slice peppers and onions.

Instructions:

Cook the Vegetables

  1. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  2. Add onions and green peppers.
  3. Cook 8–10 minutes until softened and lightly caramelized.
  4. Remove and set aside.

Cook the Beef

  1. Add shaved beef to the skillet.
  2. Season with salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and Worcestershire sauce.
  3. Cook until browned and fully cooked.
  4. Return peppers and onions to the skillet.
  5. Toss everything together.

Prepare the Bread

  1. Brush the inside of both bread halves generously with garlic butter.
  2. Bake for 5 minutes until lightly toasted.

  1. Layer 6 slices of provolone on the bottom half of the bread.

  3. Sprinkle shredded provolone over the beef.

  6. Broil for 1–2 minutes if desired for additional color.

Finish

  1. Remove from oven.
  2. Sprinkle with fresh parsley.
  3. Allow to rest 3 minutes.
