Butter Garlic Bacon Green Beans

Ingredients
  

  • 1 lb green beans trimmed
  • 4 slices bacon chopped
  • 1 small onion diced
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 1/4 cup water
  • Salt and pepper

Equipment

  • Large skillet
  • Chef's knife
  • Cutting Board
  • Wooden spoon or spatula
  • Lid (for steaming)

Method
 

Prep:
  1. Trim green beans
  2. Dice onion
  3. Mince garlic
  4. Chop bacon
Instructions:
  1. Heat a large skillet over medium heat
  2. Add chopped bacon and cook until it starts releasing fat and crisping
  3. Add diced onion and cook 3–4 minutes until softened
  4. Add garlic and cook 30 seconds
  5. Season with salt and pepper
  6. Add green beans and toss in the bacon fat
  7. Pour in 1/4 cup water
  8. Cover and let steam 6–8 minutes until tender
  9. Remove lid and cook off any excess water
  10. Add butter and toss until melted and coated
  11. Serve hot

Notes

  • Don’t over-steam—keep a slight bite to the beans
  • Bacon fat + butter = big flavor
  • Great with steak, chicken, or holiday meals
