Ingredients

  • 2 large cucumbers thinly sliced
  • Juice of 1 large lime
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1/2 tsp chili powder
  • 1/4 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/4 tsp smoked paprika
  • Salt to taste
  • Fresh cracked black pepper to taste
Optional:
  • Tajín seasoning
  • Crushed red pepper flakes
  • Fresh chopped cilantro
  • Thin sliced red onion

Equipment

  • Cutting Board
  • Chef's knife
  • Mixing bowl
  • Citrus Juicer
  • Measuring spoons
  • Spatula or wooden spoon

Method

Prep:
  1. Slice cucumbers into thin rounds about 1/8-inch thick for the best crunch and flavor coating.
  2. Roll lime firmly on the counter before cutting to release extra juice.
  3. Pat cucumber slices lightly with paper towels if you want an even crunchier texture.
Instructions:
  1. Add sliced cucumbers to a large mixing bowl.
  2. Drizzle with fresh lime juice and olive oil.
  3. Sprinkle in chili powder, garlic powder, smoked paprika, salt, and black pepper.
  4. Toss thoroughly until every cucumber slice is evenly coated.
  5. Taste as you go and adjust seasoning if needed. Add more lime for brightness, more salt for flavor, or extra chili powder/Tajín for more kick.
  6. Let the cucumbers sit for 5–10 minutes before serving so they absorb the seasoning.
  7. Garnish with cilantro, red onion, or extra Tajín if desired. Serve cold.

Notes

  • English cucumbers work especially well because they stay crisp and have fewer seeds.
  • Don’t skip tasting as you go — cucumbers need enough lime and salt to really shine.
  • For extra cold crunch, refrigerate cucumbers before slicing.
  • If you love bold flavor, finish with a light sprinkle of Tajín right before serving.
