Classic Red Wine Sangria

This easy red wine sangria recipe is fruity, refreshing, and ideal for parties or warm evenings. A simple make-ahead cocktail packed with citrus and fresh fruit flavor.

Ingredients
  

  • 1 bottle red wine 750ml – Spanish wine or any dry red
  • 1/4 cup brandy optional but recommended
  • 2 tbsp sugar or honey
  • 1 orange sliced
  • 1 lemon sliced
  • 1/2 apple chopped
  • 1 cup orange juice
  • 1/2 cup club soda or sparkling water
  • Ice

  • Large pitcher
  • Cutting Board
  • Chef's knife
  • Long spoon
  • Measuring cups

Method
 

  1. Add sliced fruit and chopped apple to a large pitcher.
  2. Pour in the red wine and orange juice.
  3. Add brandy and sugar or honey.
  4. Stir well until the sugar dissolves.
  5. Refrigerate for at least 1 hour for the best flavor.
  6. Add club soda or sparkling water right before serving.
  7. Fill glasses with ice and pour sangria over top.
  8. Garnish with extra fruit slices if desired.

Notes

  • Spanish Rioja wines work great for traditional sangria.
  • Add berries, peaches, or limes for variation.
  • The longer it chills, the more flavorful it becomes.
