French Dip Sliders

These French Dip Sliders combine tender French Onion Braised Chuck Roast, melted provolone cheese, buttery Hawaiian rolls, garlic herb butter, and rich homemade au jus into an easy crowd-pleasing meal. Perfect for parties, game day spreads, and comfort food dinners.

Ingredients
  

Sliders
  • 1 package 12 count King’s Hawaiian Sweet Rolls
  • pounds prepared French Onion Braised Chuck Roast
  • 12 slices provolone cheese
  • 2 tablespoons reserved caramelized onions from the roast recipe
Garlic Butter Topping
  • 6 tablespoons butter melted
  • 3 cloves garlic finely minced
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley finely chopped
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • ¼ teaspoon kosher salt
Au Jus
  • cups reserved French Onion Braised Chuck Roast braising liquid
  • ½ cup beef broth
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper

Equipment

Method
 

Prep
  1. Preheat oven to 350°F.
  2. Prepare French Onion Braised Chuck Roast according to recipe instructions.
  3. Reserve 1½ pounds shredded beef.
  4. Reserve 1½ cups braising liquid.
  5. Reserve 2 tablespoons caramelized onions.
  6. Melt butter.
  7. Mix garlic butter topping ingredients together.
Instructions
    Prepare the Rolls
    1. Keep the Hawaiian rolls connected.
    2. Slice the entire package horizontally through the middle.
    3. Place the bottom half into a greased 9x13 baking dish.
    Build the Sliders
    1. Spread shredded French Onion Braised Chuck Roast evenly across the rolls.
    2. Scatter reserved caramelized onions over the beef.
    3. Layer provolone cheese evenly across the top.
    4. Place the top half of the rolls back on.
    5. Add the Garlic Butter
    6. Brush garlic butter mixture generously over the tops of the rolls.
    7. Make sure the butter gets into the seams and edges.
    Bake
    1. Cover loosely with foil.
    2. Bake for 15 minutes.
    3. Remove foil.
    4. Bake an additional 5–7 minutes until the tops are golden brown and glossy.
    5. Cheese should be fully melted and gooey.
    Make the Au Jus
    1. While sliders bake, combine reserved braising liquid, beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, and black pepper in a saucepan.
    2. Bring to a gentle simmer.
    3. Cook 5–10 minutes until hot and flavorful.
    Finish
    1. Remove sliders from oven.
    2. Rest for 3 minutes.
    3. Sprinkle with fresh parsley.
    4. Cut into individual sliders.
    5. Serve immediately with warm au jus for dipping.

    Notes

    • King’s Hawaiian rolls provide the soft texture shown in the image.
    • Provolone is the ideal cheese for French Dip Sliders because it melts beautifully and creates long cheese pulls.
    • Do not skip the garlic butter topping.
    • The reserved braising liquid creates a much richer au jus than store-bought mixes.
    • Covering with foil during the first part of baking prevents over-browning.
    • Serve immediately for the best cheese pull.
