Serves: 3–4 | Prep Time: 15 minutes | Cook Time: 20 minutes | Total Time: 35 minutes

Why This Works:

Soaking removes excess starch and drying thoroughly allows the fries to crisp up in the air fryer while staying soft inside.

Ingredients:

  • 3–4 russet potatoes, cut into fries
  • 1–2 tbsp oil (olive or vegetable)
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Optional garnish: fresh chopped parsley

Kitchen Tools:

  • Air fryer
  • Knife
  • Cutting board
  • Mixing bowl
  • Paper towels

Prep:

  1. Cut potatoes into even fry-sized strips
  2. Place in a bowl of cold water and soak 10–15 minutes (removes starch)
  3. Drain and dry thoroughly with paper towels (this step is critical)

Instructions:

  1. Add dried fries back to a bowl
  2. Drizzle oil evenly over fries
  3. Add paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper
  4. Toss until evenly coated
  5. Preheat air fryer to 395°F (if your model requires it)
  6. Place fries in basket in a single layer (do NOT overcrowd)
  7. Air fry for 15–20 minutes
  8. Shake basket halfway through cooking
  9. Cook longer if needed for extra crispiness
  10. Remove and serve immediately

Notes:

  • Drying fries well = key to crispiness
  • Don’t overcrowd or fries will steam instead of crisp
  • Cook in batches if needed
  • Add parmesan or chili flakes for variation
  • Best served immediately
